Self powered UV photodetector charges

Indian Instittute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, have developed a cost-effective, high performance, self powered UV photodector.

This can be used for direct self charging of energy storage devices such as supercapacitor by using the harvested optical energy.

Key facts:

It has been developed by integrating semiconducting vanadium dopped zinc oxide nanoflakes (VZno) with a conducting polymer.

Uses:

It can be used for operating electronic devices in the absence of external power source.

The vanadium-doped zinc oxide nanoflake structure has 98% light-harvesting efficiency, which is much higher than the 84% seen in zinc oxide nanorods.

Small parties, Independents in Rajya sabha as the United Group

Vice President Hamid Ansari has formally recognized a group of 22 MPs belonging to parties with less than four MPs and certain independents as a consolidated block.

Need for this United Group:

Smaller parties and independent MPs who gets time rarely for share their view in debates in Rajya Sabha arguments than the major parties like the Congress and the BJP who got more time in debates.

Now, they also will find a place in the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) that decides time allotment.

So now its possible to speak by this United group which will benefit all the different idealogical background parties to get times in House debates.

Key Facts:

This is the third time in the History of Indian Parliament that this United group formed.

The first was happened in 1983 and the second time happened in 1990.

India- Russia to set up agro irradiation centers

India and Russia have signed a pact to set up 25 integrated infrastructure centers for irradiation treatmentof perishable food items to improve shelf life and cut post harvest losses.

Key facts:

The agreement was signed between Russia’s United Innovation Corporation (UIC) — a subsidiary of Rosatom State Atomic Energy Corporation — and Hindustan Agro Co-op Ltd on the sidelines of the BRICS Business Forum.

About Irradiation:

In irradiation, food can be treated with low dosage of radiation recommended by International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) which does not reduce the nutrition value of the food and not affect the taste of the food and their shelf life.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
